Self Initiated Project: Door


While building up my room in UDK to see if things look good and are looking stylish, I realised that I was missing a door. So I decided to create a door that emmits light through small slits to give it a little character. I used a simple wood texture because I think the room was lacking in some texture and pattern and had quite a lot of block colours.


I based my door from this reference image, I particularly liked the small amount of light that comes through the slits in the door. So I tried to replicate this by using an Emmisive texture, which I think comes of very well in the end model render.

Instead of modelling and creating an actual door handle, I decided to put a rectangle on the door and use that as a push handle, as these doors would lead to another room in the house and not outside.
