Project Paragon: Car Park Walls

As I had to start building the Park Street Bridge for the Paragon Project, I couldn’t get started on this due to not having any high quality reference images; so until I got some images I decided to create another asset for the level. These modular walls that I have created are the walls that where around the train station car park in 1914. To gain an insight of how they look I was working from a couple of old reference images. The colour I have chosen for the brick was based on the colour of the station itself, so they would look the same and not out of place.

I am very pleased with how these pieces came out and I think they look very realistic as I spent quite some time with the texturing aspect of it, to get it looking professional as possible. There are 8 modular pieces and they are straight pillar, single inset pillar, double inset pillar, curved fence, curved wall, straight wall, straight fence and lantern.

The walls are not only around the car park area but they are also along the front of the station.

Here are some screen shots of the walls in the engine, showing where they would go. Later on before the september exhibition, I will add more and move them slightly, as well as make a gate for the gaps.

I had some trouble with parts of the textures, as they would flip around and become distorted and I only noticed this when I imported the pieces into the level. But this was easily fixed with a change to the UV unwrap.
