Interactive Slideshow: Mario & Friends

For Technical production skills we where asked to design and develop an interactive slideshow in flash and it had to contain a minimum of 10 slides, a back button, next button and sound.

So for my interactive slideshow I thought I would create it based on one of my favourite gaming franchises, Mario. The idea I had was to do about 12-15 slides with a character on each page, with a text box at the side with a little bit of detail about that character.

That was my original idea but once I got into doing the slideshow, I thought it would be good to add some sounds to each of the characters; so when you clicked them, a sound effect would play.

I then added a little animation of a piranha plant slowly raising itself up from a pipe and then lowering itself down again, this is played right through the slideshow.

Next I added a button I designed in Photoshop, this button would link to an external website; the website is where I had got all the Mario sound effects from.

After this I thought the 1st page was looking quite blank, so I decided to create my own title. I came up with the name ‘Mario & Friends’; I then went and found a free super mario font to use for any text that was going to done in my interactive slideshow. This text is used for the title, buttons, and text boxes.

Below is a link to the final version 🙂

If I had more time, I would of added some other easter eggs like making the characters large by clicking a red mushroom, or something like that.
